Virtual Speech & Language Therapist with 25+ Years of Experience

Get To Know The Teacher
I’m Leslie Hanagan, the owner of Optima Speech & Language, and I work with private clients and school districts to meet their speech, language, and literacy needs. I am nationally certified with a
Clinical Competence through the American Speech and Hearing Association and am an ASHA ACE (Award for Continuing Education) recipient.

I have over 25 years of experience working with school districts in the areas of classroom teaching, literacy intervention, and speech-language pathology. I attended California State University in Sacramento, CA, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, and a Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development Credential for grades K – 12.  I have worked as a classroom teacher and as a provider of gifted education classes, and I have worked as a reading interventionist, a mentor teacher, and a professional development trainer. I received training in various multisensory literacy models, including the Orton-Gillingham Approach (Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators), and I deliver specialized intervention for the treatment of speech, language, and dyslexia.

In addition to my teaching experience, I am a graduate of the University of the Pacific with a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. As a speech-language pathologist, I have worked in public school systems, private practice, early intervention programs, and telepractice. My experience also includes that of Clinical Lead and Mentor SLP for fellow SLPs, SLPAs, and graduate students.

In my spare time, I enjoy art, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Schedule & Details
Optima Speech & Language is an online provider of speech-language therapy and dyslexia intervention for children and adults. The online therapy model allows for the delivery of services across the United States and in regions with limited specialized support.  In addition to therapy,  you can schedule  a consultation, screening or a comprehensive evaluation.  All treatment plans are implemented in accordance with evidence-based practices, and special considerations are given to individual learning styles and needs.

At Optima Speech & Language, online therapy sessions are available for all therapies and educational programs. Online sessions are available to clients through a live video connection over the internet.  This is an ideal option for clients, schools, and therapists who reside outside of each other's driving ranges, and for those with busy schedules.  With the elimination of commuting hassles, the result is a more flexible schedule and greater access to specialized providers for clients.

Speech and language treatment areas include, but are not limited to, expressive and receptive language disorders, articulation disorders, childhood apraxia of speech and social/pragmatic language.

You can schedule a free consultation to learn more about how the online model might work for you. Click here to contact us.
