A holistic tutoring program for middle school girls (6th - 8th)

Get To Know The Teacher
Hello! My name is Rachel Lonas. I am a mom of 4 daughters and a literature and composition tutor in the Chattanooga area where I have lived almost my entire life. I have a B.S. In Literature with a Secondary Licensure and have been teaching or tutoring since 2006. I am passionate about being in nature, all things artistic (painting, writing, drawing, dancing, creating of any kind, etc.), gardening, and holistic learning.
Schedule & Details
For an idea of what goes on...

We all meet together as a group every Tuesday (minus holidays and fall/spring school breaks) in the afternoons at a farm in Flintstone, Georgia. We pursue gardening, art, baking, hiking, fort building, creek play, poetry, literature, writing, nature journaling and much more.

The tutors (myself and my assistant) meet with the girls individually in their homes or an agreed upon public space for an hour's time of tutoring/mentoring. This usually consists of book discussions, paper writing, life talks -- fully customizable to the student and family's needs.

We also do occasional activities outside of these times -- fieldtrips, recitations, board game nights, movie club, outdoor events, local plays, and trash pickup.

If this feels like it might be a fit for your middle school daughter, please contact me at or visit my website if you have more questions. I currently have 2 spots open that will be available until August 15th, our start date for the year.
